Zaz

Isabelle Geffroy (born 1 May 1980 in Tours, France), better known by the nickname Zaz, is a French singer-songwriter mixing jazzy styles, French variety, soul and acoustic. She is famous for her hit "Je Veux", from her first album, Zaz, released on 10 May 2010.

"Zaz doesn’t have any address, whether in space or time.
A chronology, of course the artist has one. We can mention her first steps at the music conservatory, at the CIAM in Bordeaux, her participation in multiple bands in which she finds her inspiration as much in jazz as in rock, blues or Latin music. Then she meets the songwriter of “I want” (Kerredine Soltani), and Raphaël and his music label. And of course the revelation to the audience in 2010 with a first Double Diamond album “Sans Tsu Tsou” (opus and live).
As for a topography, Isabelle Geoffroy has one too. Born in Indre-et-Loire, bred in Bordeaux, ends up in Paris, launched all around the world, famous in Canada, Germany, Turkey, Belgium, Serbia, Russia, Japan, … She’s constantly on the go, just like a ladybird, always ready to take off, after checking that she left people happy.
However, neither the dates nor destinations really matter ; never mind the distance, she only cares for her audience, before she flies away with them again. Zaz is a perpetual motion, a zigzag on the straight line of the heart. Like the mountain weather, she metamorphoses herself, and turns around as quickly as her name. For her, the world is reversible. Take it on the right side, the best one.
A few days before a second album, as vast as dense, as double as simple, her voice reflects the joy of being here, intensely lively. And surrounded. To ward off bad luck and wake up the dead, she summoned the good spirits, her accomplices. They have written nostalgic stories, enchanted tunes, remedy-songs for a world sick of its imperfections.
Zaz, the determined and puckish fairy, sets off again with a voice as husky and vigorous as life. And she invites us to go aboard with a first cheerful song: “We’ll go”. It makes a bridge between her previous album and the coming one, in the neo-realistic vein of “I want”. But it describes itself as an invitation to travel, as a beautiful and free colourful story, just like a painting by Gauguin. The tie between her and us is the only mooring of this coming trip around the world."      zazofficial.com
